A Higher Law
Family in Jesus,
Consider this… in daily life, we are all subject to a law of nature that we cannot avoid: the law of gravity. No matter how high we jump, we will certainly fall back to the ground.
But there is another law that can oppose gravity:
The law of aerodynamics—which allows an airplane to fly, pierce the clouds, and overcome the pull of the earth.
A Spiritual Picture
Now imagine this spiritually:
Every human being, without exception, is bound by the law of sin and death. No matter how hard we try to live rightly, in the end we will still fall because of the power of sin.
But when the Holy Spirit lives in us, it is like being inside an airplane—we no longer rely on our own strength to fight gravity, but are placed within a higher law that can carry us into flight.
Through Paul, God is explaining that we do not need to fear death, because there is a greater law—the power of the Holy Spirit—that is able to set us free from sin and death.
This is what we must seek; this is what we must receive.
For when we are in Jesus and filled with His Spirit, there is “no condemnation.”
