DEVOTIONAL NO. 37 PEACE & REST

Mei Menuchot: God’s Waters of Rest

Mei Menuchot portrays the inward peace and safe resting place God provides for the soul in a noisy and anxious world.

01

Mei Menuchot

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside still waters.

Psalm 23:1–2

The Hebrew expression for “still waters” is Mei Menuchot.

Mei = Waters

Menuchot = Not merely quietness, but rest, peace, or a secure dwelling place.

Mei Menuchot is a picture of the inward peace God offers in the midst of a noisy world filled with anxiety.

02

Peace in the Midst of Struggle

Perhaps this morning you carry a worry that remains unanswered, a prayer that has not yet been fulfilled, or a struggle that is still continuing.

But remember: peace does not come because every problem has already been resolved. Peace comes because the Shepherd is still holding our hand.

03

Pause for a Moment

Today, pause for a moment.

Take a deep breath.

Turn your eyes toward God.

Let Him lead you to His waters of rest, where your soul is reminded once again that God remains faithful, remains sovereign, and continues to watch over His children. A soul that rests in God will have the strength to face whatever lies ahead.

🤍 Lord, please lead us today to Your waters of rest, so that our hearts may be still and trust You completely.

Have a blessed day, my family in Christ.
