A Meeting That Seemed Ordinary
That day we were visiting a university in Seoul. Our plan was simple: join a campus tour. But we could not find the office we were looking for, so at last we gathered the courage to ask a female student who was passing by.
Instead of merely pointing us in the right direction, she smiled and offered to take us there herself.
When we arrived, we discovered that the staff member who normally led the tour was away. With genuine enthusiasm, this biology student said that she would be happy to step in and show us around the campus.
As we walked, the conversation flowed naturally.
In the middle of our conversation, she said something that made me pause.
The more I study biology, the more convinced I become that there must be a Creator.
Her words felt like a door God had opened.
Two “Books” from God
I told her that God has given humanity two “books.”
The first is the book of nature. Through His creation—through the order, beauty, and natural laws studied by science—human beings can recognize that the universe could not simply have appeared by itself. Every discovery ultimately points toward the Great Designer.
But God did not stop there.
He also gave us the second book—His written Word, the Bible.
The book of nature reveals that there is a Creator.
But the Bible reveals who that Creator is. There we come to know His love, His faithfulness, His purpose, and His invitation for every person to return to Him.
Our conversation grew even warmer.
When Living Faith Slowly Becomes an Identity
Then she shared a story that deeply touched my heart.
Her family had once been a Christian family. But after her grandmother passed away, their spiritual fervor gradually faded. The faith that had once been alive slowly became little more than a family identity.
When the time came to say goodbye, she smiled and spoke one simple sentence.
It was meant to be.
I nodded quietly.
Yes… it truly was meant to be.
Not a Coincidence
Not because coincidence had brought us together,
but because a Hand had been arranging every step, every conversation, and even every road that seemed to lead us astray.
That day we came looking for an office.
But God was bringing together two people who were both walking along the path He had appointed.
And sometimes it is only after the journey has ended that we realize…
from the very beginning,
it was meant to be.
