This morning, Proverbs 20:6 caught my attention. The Holy Spirit led me to stop, reflect, and dig into its meaning. After nearly half an hour of searching and praying, the deeper meaning of this verse was unveiled.
“Many claim to have unfailing love, but a faithful person who can find?”
This translation, honestly, does not seem to convey the original intent fully.
In Hebrew, the phrase “unfailing love” here is ḥesed—which means faithfulness to the covenant. So it would be more accurately understood as: “Many people claim they are faithful to God.”
The second phrase, “a faithful person,” is emunim in Hebrew—which means faithful, trustworthy.
Here Is a Simple Picture
Many people claim to be faithful to God, but when the moment comes to “take a leap of faith”—when God asks us to obey even though it seems impossible—how many truly dare to trust and remain faithful?
