A Prayer from the Feet of the Teacher
(A prayer to sit close to Yeshua’s feet)
Blessed are You, O YHWH,
King over all creation,
Your throne is in heaven,
and this earth is Your footstool.
I do not ask for a place among the renowned,
nor do I want to sit among the wise.
I long for only this one thing:
Let me be Your footstool,
close enough to hear every word You speak,
low enough not to obstruct Your glory,
quiet enough not to miss Your whisper.
O Rabbi Yeshua,
When You walk,
let my heart tremble because of Your love.
When You speak,
let my soul catch Your breath between the words.
When You sit,
let me be near Your sandals—
where dust becomes holy,
and silence is stronger than thunder.
Do not let me rise through pride,
do not let my neck stretch upward to be praised.
Let me remain like the woman who wept at Your feet,
like Mary who sat listening,
like the leper who bowed down,
like the footstool in Your holy temple.
If others pursue crowns,
let me pursue the edge of Your robe.
If others pursue greatness,
let me pursue closeness to You.
For to be beneath Your feet
is to be above everything that is passing away.
Amen.
