Cup of Proposal from the Bride
In the Jewish tradition, when a man proposes to a woman, he offers a glass of wine. If the woman drinks, it means that she accepts the proposal and is ready to enter into the marriage contract.
Jesus did the same thing at the Last Supper:
"This is My blood... the blood of the covenant..."
๐ธ It's not just forgiveness of sins.
๐ธ It is a divine proposal.
๐ธ Jesus paid the bride's price with His blood.
John 3:29 - "The one who has the bridegroom is the bridegroom."
Luke 22:20 โ "This cup is a new covenant..."
1 Peter 1:18โ19 - "You have been redeemed with the precious blood of Christ."
Drinking the cup = accepting Jesus not only as Savior, but as the Divine Bride.
The Bride's Response: Accept, Leave, Prepare
In Jewish culture, if the bride accepts the proposal, she will:
Drink the cup โ a sign of acceptance.
Leaving the old house โ a repentant image of the old life.
Prepare yourself โ wait faithfully until the groom comes back.
For us as followers of Christ:
True faith is seen from loyalty and sanctification.
We live not for this world anymore, but for the bride and groom to come.
Romans 10:9โ10 โ "Believe in your heart..."
Titus 2:14 - "...to sanctify for Himself a people, His own,..."
Revelation 19:7 - "His Bridegred is ready."
Receiving a cup is not just a momentary decision, but a lifelong commitment.
Lamb's Marriage Supper: Eternal Unity
Jesus said that He left to provide a place for us - like a Jewish groom who built a house for his wife.
There will come a time when He will come back:
Without notice,
Pick up those who are loyal and ready,
To enter the marriage feast of the Lamb โ eternal joy with the King.
Revelation 19:9 - "Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage of the Lamb."
John 14:2-3 - "I went to prepare a place..."
Ephesus 5:22โ32 - "This secret is great, but what I mean is the relationship between Christ and the church."
The end of the Gospel is not only salvation โ but eternal union with Christ.
SIGNS: Religious Contract vs. Covenant of Love
โ Religious Contract (Religion Based on Performance)
๐ฐ Always worried:
"Am I good enough for God to accept me?"
๐ Counting reward:
"I have fasted, served, loved and sacrificed โ God will surely bless me."
๐ Seeing God as a Judge who is ready to punish
It is not a faithful Father who guides.
โ๏ธ Feeling far from God every time you fall into sin
Because of fear of rejection, not because of hurt love.
๐ Serving because of burden, not because of joy
There is no pleasure in prayer or words, just routine.
๐ง Trying to be a "loyal servant", but not feeling like a beloved child
Live like an employee, not a bride.
โ Agreement of Love (Gratitude-Based Relationship)
๐ Obey out of love, not out of fear
"I love God, so I don't want to hurt His heart."
๐๏ธ Repent calmly and believe in His forgiveness
Not because of panic of losing safety, but because of the longing to be restored.
๐ฐโโ๏ธ Seeing Jesus as the Bride, not just the Savior
An intimate and loving relationship.
๐ฑ Longing for God's presence, not just doing spiritual duties
Enjoying the shady moment, not just completing the checklist.
๐ Confident in identity as His
"I have been redeemed. I am His. I am safe in His love.โ
๐ Serving out of joy and longing to return His love
Not to seek praise or blessings.
CONCLUSION: Jesus did not offer a religious contract โ He offered a covenant of love.
The cross is the price of the bride.
The cup is the proposal.
Resurrection is His promise.
He had raised the cup.
Now, He is waiting for an answer from your heart:
"Will you be mine forever?"
